I have been playing with tumblr and I kinda like it. It is good and quick to post snippets of web stuff.
HERE IS MY TUMBLR PAGE
I have not been posting nearly as much— because I have a tendency to get lost on the web or on the computer instead of doing what I really needed to be doing: working in the studio. Long story short, I have been trying to limit my online time and tumblr may allow me to be bloggy with out consuming as much time…However now that my MFA app is out the door, I can reclaim some of my web time and will be posting with greater frequency

Earlier this week I put up a post of some covers that I had found in my various web wanderings. In the first version of the post I was ignorantly linking directly to the songs in question. My goal was not to pass off the content as my own, I was simply interested in making it easier for my friends and the few random readers that stumble in to find these little gems. In my haste (or possibly laziness) I hadn’t given credit to where I found the songs in the first place. (this is atypical even for me) Literally, within minutes of the post going up one of the guys over at auralfitness posted a comment, simply and bluntly telling me of my faux-pas, which I quickly corrected.
We shared a few emails back and forth and he helped me to understand my error and the rationale behind the proper way to post music. I enjoy being able to post about anything that strikes me and, while I have no intentions to make this a music blog, I am sure music will appear in future posts as it is ever present in my life. Thanks to the short email dialog with the Stu, and this article that the guys at auralfitness posted I am learning that there is a real code of ethics that is known by mp3 bloggers. Now that I am aware of this code, I will do my best to follow it.
and for the record, I end up buying most of the music I sample—
so thanks to the real mp3 bloggers out there for helping me spend my money wisely.

yesterday I set out to find a better quality version of a cover song that I have been listening to and ended up getting lost… If only I had this map, soon to be available as a poster. (via: notcot, via XKCD)

I made the mistake of attempting to eat my lunch while watching the APR 5 episode of diggnation, and nearly paid for that mistake with my life. When Kevin uttered, “she looks like she could gobble a cock”, in response to current pictures of Jodie Sweetin (Stephanie Tanner from Full House). Needless to say diggnation will no longer be a lunchtime activity for me.
ps. she used to host a poorly named, but oddly related to this post, show called Pants off dance off. Apparently TV guide called it the dumbest show on TV, despite it’s rapidly growing audience (pun intended). Who knew?
pps. I could’ve been a blogtease and used the Kevin Rose quote as the title for this post, but instead I opted to take the high road.

It seems like the Saatchi Gallery is eager to venture into the web 2.0 world of social interaction, with the launch of a handful of new features. The Saatchi, which became famous in the 90’s for collecting artists like Damien Hirst and putting together shows like Sensation (which caused quite the commotion at the Brooklyn Museum), has launched SHOWDOWN— an MTV style, head-to-head battle between 2 works from their new SUART (student art) and YOUR GALLERY (exactly what it sounds like) services. In addition they have launched CRITS— a forum for artists to upload their work with the intent of engaging in discourse and dialog with other users about your work. Both these new features seemed squarely aimed at bringing some of the myspace phenomenon to the artworld, and exploring the evolution of the gallery concept in the age of the internet.
While the Saatchi is marking out their cyber-territory, and exploring some interesting opportunities, the whole concept still feels a bit adolescent. They have succeeded in racking up some hits but seems to induce only simplistic and shallow discussions thus far. Some of the work found in the YOUR GALLERY is quite good while others are significantly lacking. And much like American Idol and other reality tv this model depends upon the audience to determine the artistic merit of the work. In theory this is a great concept, but as this years Idol and it’s Sanjaya project are proving, the audience is not always honest or noble when casting their vote. For now I’ll reserve my judgment, keeping my fingers crossed that it doesn’t drift too far in to the MySpace or Deviant art models. In the mean time I’ll keep checking the site and may even have to through my own art in the ring (just to check it out of course)

This video shows a large touch screen display that is simmilar to the one used in Minority Report.
over at macrumors some useres are already speculating (hoping against hope) that the next version of the imac may be a tablet style machine— It sounds like they are dreaming about a 17 inch— portable-around-the-house computer with an iphone style interface that could be docked on a stand (resembling the current imac) and used as a desktop
come to think of it, that’s what I am dreaming of too…
